Application software is a computer program which is related to user's work. Its main function is to improve or support the user's work. The term Application Software related to software not hardware. Application software is a sub-class of computer software and it is contrasted with the term system software or middleware. The term application refers to both the application software and its implementation. Application software is beneficial to the user in term of implementation. This software helps in those tasks which user wishes to perform. Application software integrates various computer's capabilities. Typically examples of application software are : word processors, spreadsheets, media players and database application. When multiple applications bundled together as a package then it is called application suite. The typical examples are : Microsoft Office, OpenOffice.org and iWork, which bundle together a word processor, a spreadsheet, and several other discrete applications.
